About Us
In 1999, we bought an unkempt 6 hectares of land, with an aim to plant a family operated cherry orchard to supply local and overseas customers. Over the next couple of years, Gary planted a total of 3000 cherry trees digging each hole by hand and planting each tree, while Ali taught at the local secondary school. Each year since 2002 we have opened our roadside shop to sell our quality cherries and assorted other products to customers. We have couriered cherries around New Zealand and sent our fruit to export around the world. We consistently operate to grow and sell quality fruit to all of our customers for a fair price.
We have seven different cherry varieties ripening over a period of about 5 weeks of summer. The season begins with the Sonnet, Samba and Celeste varieties which typically ripen just before Christmas. After Christmas our Stella variety ripens to it's best and then around the New Year our Lapins ripen. Also around the New Year our very special white fleshed cherry the Rainier ripens to its very sweetest. Very few growers produce this delicate and special variety. Finally in the second and third weeks of January our final variety the Sweetheart matures.
